Offroad Training at Enduro Park Hechlingen
Some of the countries that I am going to visit have very little paved roads. Mongolia for example has only 10% of its 50.000km roads paved. Getting some offroad riding experience was therefore a bit overdue. This is why I went to the Enduro Park Hechlingen to participate in a one day training.
The Training
The Enduro Park Hechlingen is located about 70kms south of Nuremberg/Germany. After being split in one out of three groups (Newbie, Intermediate, Pros) we went right into the park to practice things such as:
- Proper posture on the bike
- Two fingers always on the clutch (!)
- Narrow turns
- How to ride through lane groves
- Hill Climb / Hill Climb Stop
- Riding in sand
- Full breaks with or without ABS
Needles to say I learned a lot. For example that my current tires are not suitable for mud at all. I also learned that I actually don’t have ABS which was a surprise to me (don’t judge :-). Overall it was a great experience. The trainers were awesome and even more so the other riders.
Video footage will follow. I don’t have a proper workflow yet for my videos and the 2.7k resolution of my GoPro Hero 5 Session is pushing the limits of my laptop. Meanwhile same after pictures. Welcome to the dirt.
— EDIT — Videoooooo
Did you fall off the bike in this video or did you just park on the floor / road to take a wee break ?
